Timings: 10th – 9.30pm-4pm.

Camping, evening meal and breakfast provided as part of the second day.
Requirements; Outdoor clothes (this is a very dirty activity!), a good ventilator mask (although we can supply these individuals maybe more comfortable using their own and packed lunch.

Description; An insight into the art of charcoal making. This will look at different methods of making charcoal with hands-on experience of using both ring kilns and a portable retort kiln. The day will allow people to experience all parts of the process; assessing timber, preparing and filling the kilns, lighting, managing the burn, emptying the kilns and grading charcoal into bags.
2 day option includes a closer look at the retort. Wild camping with evening meal and breakfast included.
